Review of the migration system. Final Report 2023

On 2 September 2022, the Minister for Home Affairs, the Hon Clare O'Neil MP announced three eminent persons would lead a comprehensive review of Australia's migration system to ensure it better meets existing challenges and sets a clear direction for the coming decades. Professor Joanna Howe was appointed as one of the three reviewers.

The reviewers presented the Review of the Migration System Final Report (3MB PDF) (the Report) to the Government on 21 March 2023. Informed by public submissions and consultation, the Report captures valuable insights, analysis, international comparisons and directions for reform. The Government has consided the review’s findings to inform an outline of the Migration Strategy

Professor Howe is a leading expert on the legal regulation of temporary labour migration and serves on the Ministerial Advisory Council on Skilled Migration and the International Labour Organisation’s Expert Working Group on Temporary Labour Migration.
