Adelaide Law School Statement of Support for an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Voice

Love heart to support the Voice to Parliament

In 2023, the Australian people will vote in a referendum on enshrining in the Australian Constitution an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Voice to parliament and government. This is one of three proposals articulated by the Uluru Statement from the Heart: Voice, Treaty and Truth.

Freedom of enquiry and the free expression of ideas are fundamental to the mission of the Adelaide Law School. All members of our community are entitled to engage in robust, evidence-based and respectful expression of their views and the Law School provides a safe place for expressing differing opinions. The Law School strives to contribute to the referendum process by actively facilitating informed public debate.

There is overwhelming support by the staff of the Adelaide Law School for all three proposals of the Uluru Statement from the Heart and, in particular, the ‘yes’ position in the 2023 referendum.
