Collaborative Conversations in Law Reform
SALRI takes an active role to promote enhanced links and cooperation between Commonwealth and Australian law reform bodies. There are many common issues, themes and challenges in modern law reform and ample scope for fruitful cooperation.
Succession Act 7 SALRI Reports Implemented
The landmark Succession Act progressed through Parliament with all party backing and passed the Lower House on 27 September 2023. The Bill is a huge update to succession law to bring it into the modern age in one Act and replaces laws, some going back to King Charles II. The Act incorporates no fewer than seven past SALRI reports going back a decade. The Act implements 104 of SALRI's 118 recommendations over the seven reports.

Law Reform International Meeting of Minds
SALRI meet-up with leading law reformers, lawyers, judges and academics in London and Limerick to share knowledge and experiences around topical law reform issues and law reform.
SALRI Regional and Aboriginal Engagement
The independent South Australian Law Reform Institute (SALRI) visited Clare, Port Pirie and Port Augusta 20-21 April 2023 as part of its ongoing engagement with regional and Aboriginal communities. This visit included seeking input on SALRI’s current reference into the role and operation of suppression orders and updating interested parties on SALRI’s recent major report into the operation of the Mental Health Act.

SALRI in 2022: The year in review
2022 has proved yet another busy and productive year for the South Australian Law Reform Institute (SALRI). SALRI is an independent non-partisan law reform body based at the University of Adelaide Law School. The Law Reform elective is linked to SALRI. The work undertaken in the Law Reform class plays a valuable role to inform and support SALRI’s work.
